What We Do

Support and Advice

Health Care

There are thousands of people who live in the slump without medical care, some have no access to health care services, some cannot afford it, some are ignorant Regarding their health, especially in Africa most people in rural areas think and believe that some kind of illness is not natural, some think it’s a course or the person is under a spell. We get to such places to create awareness about the importance of proper hygiene and how their environment can affect their health, awareness about healthy living and the importance, we sensitize them and educate them on how to put their mental health in check, most importantly we preach the word of God to them and show them love as well as for them to love one another.

For those having medical issues and are down with diseases that have affected them mentally, we must direct them to the appropriate quarters, like rehabilitation centers, having access to primary health care, we educate them on the danger of keeping their environment dirty and the benefits of maintaining a healthy lifestyle. Malnutrition is one major thing that has affected the poor, a lot of the people in rural areas have no access to clean water, they drink dirty water. Hephzibah Ministries through their sponsors and donors provide clean water and food for people in this category. Cleanliness is next to Godliness (3 John 1:2) Beloved, I pray that all may go well with you and that you may be in good health, as it goes well with your soul. We are inspired by the word of God to ensure that we are in good health.

Mental Health

Hephzibah Ministries provide adequate advice and information to people going through one mental illness or the other. We have trained and professional therapists who will advise and proffer solutions on mental health, we create awareness also on how to get help and get justice for people who have been abused and dehumanized especially those that have been affected by traditions and culture that is unfair to human existence. A higher percentage of the poor are depressed, because there is no means of livelihood, inhuman treatment due to cultural belief. The Bible says in Mathew 11: 28-29 Come unto me, all ye that labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.

Take my yoke upon you and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls. The good God we serve has told us to cast our burdens to him. Hephzibah Ministries not only provide food, clothes and materials for the poor, we also give advice on what to do to become self-sufficient. We create job opportunities for our beneficiaries and these and many more support will help them to put their mental health in place. 2 Timothy 1-7 For God gave us a spirit not of fear but of power and love and self-control.

Domestic Abuse

The is very common to most families, women especially are usually the sufferers. Such heinous act has become a norm in most parts of Africa. Galatians 5:19-21 Now the works of the flesh are evident: sexual immorality, impurity, sensuality, idolatry, sorcery, enmity, strife, jealousy, fits of anger, rivalries, dissensions, divisions, envy, drunkenness, orgies, and things like these. I warn you, as I warned you before, that those who do such things will not inherit the kingdom of God. It is our priority to shun against this as it is beginning to eat deep into the fabrics of home, this is not Gods vision for the family, he created the family to be happy together, in Hephzibah Ministries we get justice for abusers and preach the word of God to perpetrators and the abused. Something triggers violence, misunderstanding is abound, the Bible says Amos 3:3 “How can two walk together unless they are agreed? The institution of marriage wasn’t built for violence but on love and harmony. We counsel people on how to live in unity and love, tolerating one another, standing by each other in thick and thin. We comfort the sufferers and give them hope, if you or anyone you know is in such situation don’t hesitate to reach out to us as our doors are always open to those in distress to get help.

Awareness and Seminars

Education

Having access to education is the yardstick to pull people out of abject poverty, when one isn’t educated the ability to develop his/her skills is limited, it may seem difficult to make impact, because the ability to discover oneself may be difficult. The importance of education cannot be overemphasized and the benefits It brings, lack of education is why some people do not know they have rights to life, healthcare, security, education and how to develop their potential, lack of education is the reason so many people are poor although not all those who did not go to school are poor, but lack of education is a great contributor to modern day slavery and lack of knowledge as well as poverty.

Hephzibah Ministries sensitize poor communities to go to school and provide access to education, they collaborate with appropriate quarters to provide free education and also school materials. Adult education is also key for us as this will help parent encourage their children to go to school Deuteronomy 11:19 And ye shall teach them your children, speaking of them when thou sittest in thine house, and when thou walkest by the way, when thou liest down, and when thou risest up. Education is a right and has helped break gender bias which is prominent among the poor.

Sensitization

In most communities their health challenges stems from their culture and beliefs, for instance female genital mutilation, it is a usual and common practice in especially the rural areas, this act and practice has been in existence for too long that it has become a norm, meanwhile most health challenges that the act brings some of these communities are not aware it is what they have been practicing that have caused more diseases, Hephzibah Ministries comes in by bringing the community together and sensitize them on some of the dangers inherent in some of their cultural practices and showing them vivid examples of the adverse effect. Through their community leaders and traditional rulers, we organize outreach and identify problems their faced with and health issues and inform them on how to get help and treatments. Our concern is to ensure that everyone is aware of their health, and how to maintain a healthy lifestyle, through our sensitization programs we thrive to curb the menace that health challenges can bring.

“Our mandate is to be accountable to the poor, and the most vulnerable.”
